Kotani is a ceramic studio & shop located in Hackney Downs Studios. We are group of potters working in the space and running weekly workshops. We love this studio and ceramics and want to share it with others. Come by & say hey!
We think fostering community is very important - creativity flourishes when nurtured by connection, and in a space where everyone can learn from one another. Our space is cozy and intimate, perfect for forming connections with other artists. We host community events surrounding pottery and creativity, as a way to bring people together. We also aim to make pottery accessible to people who may not have had a chance to try it otherwise, which is reflected in our prices and our teaching style.
ACCESSIBILITY
Unfortunately, the indoor studio space at Kotani Studio is not yet wheelchair accessible, due to a step to enter and narrow maneuvering space. We have access to a wheelchair accessible courtyard, and can host workshops in that space, with weather permitting. We are able to put up covers for the rain, but haven’t got outdoor heaters. We have wheelchair accessible bathrooms on site. If you wish to book an outdoor session, please email us at hello@kotani.co.uk and we can make a plan!
We are currently working on builiding a ramp and working with space constraints within the space to make it wheelchair accessible.
