Terms and Conditions
By booking workshops or open sessions you agree to Terms and Conditions.

1. Cancellation and rescheduling

All workshops are refundable up to 7 days before the start of the workshop. If you wish to cancel after this time we may be able to reschedule instead of refund if you prefer. If you do not attend your workshop or course and do not inform us before the start of the session, then we reserve the right to not offer an alternative date.

We reserve the right to cancel a course or class up to and including 7 days prior to the start of the date of the course. We will strive to give as much notice to booked participants as possible. The studio shall not be responsible or liable for any delay in or failure to run courses if such delay or failure is due to any cause beyond our reasonable control.

Individuals booked onto a cancelled course will be given the option of a full refund or of rescheduling to a future course date if available. Kotani will not be liable for any losses or expenses arising from amendments to the course or cancellations.

In the case of a teacher becoming ill or having an emergency, Kotani reserves the right to cancel a course or workshop up until the start date.

3. Cleaning

All participants in a class or course are required to clean their workspace and any areas of the Studio that they have used at the end of each class. This is for good studio practice and to prevent the build-up of clay dust.

Please read more on the potential dangers of silica dust if we do not keep the space clean.

4. Firing and Collecting Work

You must label each piece you choose to fire using the template provided by your teacher. If you do not label your work and we cannot identify it, we will not fire it.

For one off classes, each piece you choose to fire will be bisque fired within 6 weeks of your initial class date. We will contact you as soon as your piece has been bisque fired, from which time you will have one month to come in and glaze your piece before it is discarded. Once a piece has been glazed, it will be glaze fired within 6 weeks of that glazing session. Once your work comes out of the second firing, you will be contacted again that your work is ready for pickup, after which you will have two weeks to collect your work.

For multiple session courses that include a glaze session, your pieces will be bisque fired on the schedule outlined specifically for that course. Those details can be found on the product page of each course on our website. After the glazing session, your pieces will be fired within a month. Once your work comes out of the second firing, you will be contacted again that your work is ready for pickup, after which you will have two weeks to collect your work.

If this schedule will not work for you, please contact us and we will try our best to accommodate.

If conditions outside of our control interfere with our firing schedule outlined above, such as extreme weather or technical issues, we will notify you of this interference and get back on schedule as soon as possible. If for some reason your work is not fired within the outlined timeline, Kotani will not be liable.
